About Michigan’s Promise

Mission:  Michigan’s Promise seeks to create safer streets, healthier youth and stronger communities by providing leadership and resources to ensure that the Five Promises are available to all of Michigan’s youth.

Who We Are:
Michigan's Promise, launched in 1997, works to ensure that all of Michigan's youth will have a caring adult, safe place, healthy start, effective education and an opportunity to help others. This initiative has supported hundreds across Michigan in developing innovative partnerships, programs and resources to support the Five Promises for kids.  Michigan’s Promise has over the last four years been committed to bring you information, resources and training opportunities that support your work at the local level.  This support has included providing you with the latest information, online tools and guidance on resources.

Most recently, we launched our statewide Red Wagon Awards, thanks to the Consumers Energy Foundation, our exclusive sponsor.  The Red Wagon Awards are a way for us to acknowledge the great work being done at the local level to help our children reach their full potential. We hope to continue offering this opportunity on an annual basis and to continue to recognize and support your work.

While we’ve seen progress and growth in Michigan’s Promise, we know there is much more that needs to be done and at an increased level if we are to ensure every child has access to the Five Promises.  That is why America’s Promise and Michigan’s Promise are examining how we can best affect the lives of children.

What We Do:
Through increasing awareness, advocating for children and engaging in a few powerful initiatives, we use the strength of our network to more effectively and strategically bring the power of the Five Promises to America’s children – enabling them to have the resources they need to lead happier, healthier and productive lives and build a stronger society.  Michigan’s Promise is currently partnering with Voices for Michigan’s Children to promote The Promise of Michigan’s Children  an initiative that will together and as part of a national effort work to create a groundswell of support in Michigan and engage Communities and Sites of Promise to ensure that children and their families are a priority in federal policy and budget decisions.

Why We Are Here:
Michigan’s Promise works to support Communities and Sites of Promise as they seek to connect the resources of community stakeholders. We help facilitate collaboration through advocacy trainings and networking opportunities that provide communities with far greater resources to serve young people then they would otherwise receive from separate disconnected entities.
